Purpose

The Keld Moseholm Foundation works to secure the preservation and development of Keld Moseholm’s studio and sculpture garden in Faaborg as a permanent, publicly accessible cultural site.

Keld Moseholm’s studio and sculpture garden are among the very few places in Denmark where a sculptor’s work can still be experienced in the environment in which it was created. Studio, works and landscape still form a unified whole and represent an important piece of Danish art and cultural history.

The Foundation’s work aims to ensure that this artistic environment is preserved and developed as a studio museum and sculpture garden, where the public can experience both the works and the artistic process — from sketch and model to finished sculpture.

In the longer term, the ambition is to develop the site as a living art destination, where art, nature and the story of the human being in art can continue to be experienced by new generations.

Concrete projects

Preservation and conservation

The studio remains in almost original condition, with tools, sketches and unfinished works. The buildings, the sculptures and the garden require ongoing maintenance and conservation to ensure that the place can be preserved as a coherent artistic environment.

Extending opening hours

Today the site is open for a limited period in summer. With support, the opening season can be extended so that more visitors — including schools, tourists and art enthusiasts — have the opportunity to experience the place.

Interpretation and activities

The Foundation wishes to develop new forms of interpretation, including guided tours, events and educational programmes, giving visitors insight into both the works and the artistic process behind them.

Archive and documentation

A central task is the registration and digitisation of works, sketches and models, so the material can be preserved and, in time, made accessible for research and public interpretation.

International partnerships

The Foundation aims to establish collaborations with international studio museums and sculpture parks to exchange experience on preservation, interpretation and the development of artists’ homes as cultural institutions.

Support the Foundation’s work

The Keld Moseholm Foundation receives contributions from individuals, businesses and foundations. Contributions go towards preserving works and buildings and developing interpretation and activities, so the site can remain an open and living cultural place in the future.
