Keld Moseholm's
Studio and Garden
In the summer of 2024, Keld Moseholm's studio and garden opened to the public for the first time. Throughout the summer months, visitors could encounter sculptures and drawings in the very surroundings where they came into being.
Moseholm acquired the old school in Bjerne in 1998 and, in the years that followed, restored and expanded the property with a sculpture garden — leaving behind both an extensive body of work and a unique insight into an artistic career.
About the exhibition
Keld Moseholm worked all his life along two seemingly opposing tracks. He is best known for the small, stout men and women who crawl, struggle and balance in their own little worlds. A lesser-known side of his work is the often larger classical sculptures. This exhibition shows both sides of the artist.
The small, stout figures reveal one side of Keld Moseholm — his humour and his singular ability to capture a telling moment in sculptural form. These micro-cosmoses portray the human being, and the figure of power in particular, as a small ball in a larger game.
The naturalistic sculptures show Keld Moseholm's ability to depict the human body in idealised and therefore timeless form. It is above all the female body, built up from a living model.
The caricatured small figures and the larger classical sculptures thus ask us to accept two truths about the human being — that we are at one and the same time great and infinitely small. It is this paradox that Keld Moseholm gives form.
